Strong start carries Eau Claire North to title game

GRAND CHUTE — Eau Claire North will play for a state championship for the first time since 2011.

The Huskies advanced to the Division 1 title game with an 8-4 win over Fond du Lac in the semifinals on Tuesday night at Fox Cities Stadium.

Eau Claire North ran out to a 7-0 lead after two and a half innings, giving them all the cushion they would need to advance to Thursday's championship.

North got three hits from Gabe O'Brien and two more from Sam Stange in the victory. Those two each drove in a pair of runs.

Sam Hernandez knocked two hits for Fond du Lac including an RBI single.
